Giving Back in 2010 !
Ferdinand's Ball is an annual fundraiser created in honor of Ferdinand, the 1986 Kentucky Derby winner sent to slaughter in Japan after making millions for his owners while racing and becoming horse of the year.
This year's black-tie ball will have Maria Menounos as host, Kathy Cary as celebrity chef and include celebrities, athletes and community leaders on it's guest list. The purpose of this amazing event is to raise awareness and funds so that legacies like Ferdiand can retire in peace and with diginity on a beautiful farm in Georgetown, Kentucky (Old Friends)
We are extremely proud to be one of this year's event sponsors, and are hoping fundraising expectations are surpassed so that many more horses can be given the opportunity to retire happily and humanely!
Giving Back in 2009 !
On October 4th Nick Sharp (NBM co-founder Aliette’s husband) and his good friend Walter Ploskon led Team NewBornMom.com in the 100-mile bike ride “Bike MS New York City.” to raise funds for The National MS Society! This amazing yearly bike ride has been around for 24 years and has raised over $15 Million in total.
This charity is of particular relevance to Aliette and Nick as a close friend was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis when she was only 28.The support of The National MS Society has been invaluable to her fight against this disease. There is currently no cure for multiple sclerosis and diagnosis occurs most frequently between the ages of 20 and 50.This disease brings uncertainty to those living with it and stops people from moving; The National MS Society exists to make sure it doesn't. This organization helps by funding cutting-edge research, driving change through advocacy, facilitating professional education, and providing programs and services that help those affected by MS and their families move their lives forward.
A SPECIAL THANK YOU TO ALL THOSE WHO KINDLY DONATED TO THIS CAUSE !!
All funds raised went directly to the National MS Society and are tax deductible
Giving Back in 2008 !
<March of Dimes does not endorse any specific products or brands>
This year we have chosen to support March of Dimes. This charity has great sentimental value for Fernanda (co-owner of NewBornMom) as both her little girls were born premature (33 wks & 35 wks). Thankfully neither of her daughters needed medical intervention, but many other mothers are not as fortunate. Supporting an organization like March of Dimes can hopefully someday lead to no more premature births.
On June 10th we were invited to attend the luncheon titled, "The Eco-Friendly Baby: Common Sense Guidelines for Mom" organized by March of Dimes for reporters. Here medical doctors and "green" experts gave tips and spoke about the importance of surrounding babies with eco-safe products and foods for a healthier life.
NewBornMom donated a lavish gift basket filled with eco-friendly baby products (valued at more than $450) for the luncheon's raffle grand prize. This raffle was held amongst the many journalists who attended - Good Housekeeping Research Institute, Parenting Magazine, Today's Child Magazine, BabyTalk Magazine, Siempre Mujer Magazine, Glamour Magazine, Self Magazine, ABC World News Now....just to name a few.
NewBornMom also donated 2% of all 2008 sales, so they can continue their amazing research, and fight against premature births. Because we, too, believe every baby deserves a fighting chance!
